Exploring “Amare et Servire”: A Focused Ethnography in a North Sulawesi Hospital

This study aims to explore how Indonesian nurses, particularly in North Sulawesi, represent the rich cultural diversity, embracing and embodying the inspiring concept of "Amare et Servire.". The study will be conducted in a selected private hospital located in Minahasa Utara, located in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The researcher will employ a focused ethnography method. Data will be gathered through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, document analysis, and focus group discussions involving nurses, patients, and their families. The findings will help shape the understanding of religious belief, cultural diversity, and its impact on nursing practices. This study has the potential to contribute to developing strategies that enhance job satisfaction, resilience, and retention rates among nurses and may serve as the groundwork for research exploring the interplay between faith, culture, and healthcare practices making a contribution to transcultural nursing.
